DAY 1: From Madrid, journey to the World Heritage site of Salamanca for coffee and a walk. Bike in the Spanish highlands through sleepy villages and farmland. Savor sweeping views as you descend into the Douro Valley and arrive at our ship. (Overnight Vega Terrón, Spain)
DAY 2: Cycle to a fortified hilltop village for epic vistas into Portugal and Spain. Pedal in a vast natural park amid high plateaus and plunging gorges. Sail on the Upper Douro River, a region marked by steep and sparsely populated slopes. (Overnight Pinhão, Portugal)
DAY 3: View the lovely tiles in Pinhão, a mecca for wine lovers. Ride along the Douro before stopping at a quinta (winery) for a private tasting of port and superb Douro wines. Bike to Lamego. (Overnight Peso da Régua)
DAY 4: Spin past terraced vineyards in a valley that opens up to reveal glorious riverside scenery. Relax during an afternoon cruise on the Douro. (Overnight Caldas de Aregos)
DAY 5: A scenic morning ride takes you around a thermal spring area and through Resende, one of the best-preserved towns of Portugal. The afternoon may find you enjoying deckside views from aboard our ship. (Overnight Bitetos or Entre-os-Rios)
DAY 6: Cruise the final stretch of the Douro into Porto, where a private guided walking tour awaits. This charming World Heritage city will intoxicate you with its splendid architecture, winding alleyways and ever-changing views. (Overnight Porto)
DAY 7 and 8: Bike along a wildlife-rich estuary, pine forests and the Atlantic Ocean. Arrive back at our ship with splendid vistas of Porto. (Overnight Porto)
